Recipe below - made it Monday - it was great.

It’s crazy that all of the sudden it feels like the days are starting to get noticeably shorter. We’ve planted all the fall crops and are starting their fertility treatments. We looooove spraying their leaves with fish hydrolysate (basically fermented fish) and they love it too. It’s been perfect weather for foliar spraying because the overcast sky doesn’t evaporate the nutrients off their leaves immediately. We also like to feed the roots of fruiting crops some kelp meal every month which helps their fruit production keep up as the plants age.

We also harvest all of the storage onions and have them curing in the propagation greenhouse. The wet air hasn’t been very conducive to them drying out, but this is how it is every August and it always works out. The winter squash and the laying hens in the backfield are getting along nicely - the squash is growing rapidly and the birds are, too! The chickens love this time of year just as much as we do, because they get to eat tons of tomatoes and peppers - the ones that are compost grade. The colour of their yolk changes with their diet, so take notice of the diversity of color in the eggs. Egg yolks are an awesome reminder than you are what you eat, and that seasonal changes in your diet are quite natural.
