Sharing the easter border with our farm, is the beloved Bender Park, part of the Milwaukee County Parks system. This park has been part of the community for years; sharing its beach, prairie, and bluffs with people and wildlife. It has been widely recongnized as one of Milwaukee County’s largest and wildest parks. Recently, the park underwent major construction to establish a segment of the Oak Leaf Trail; surprising many members of the community who use the park daily, and eventually led to the formation of the “Bender Park Friends".

The group has been active for over a year now, and acts as voice, steward, and advocate of the park. This park is a huge asset to the community - and no matter where one stands on the issue of the new Oak Leaf Trail project, the resulting formation of the group is imperative to the park remaining a shared public space indefinitely. As the threat of data centers gets more real everyday, it’s extremently important that the park has strong advocates in the community, who speak on behalf of the park and all of its inhabitants. The group meets monthly for various cleanup, maintenance, and planning tasks, and because it’s a newly formed group, could use a few basic necessities listed on their website. Proceeds of this dinner will be donated to the Bender Park Friends. Check out their website and thank you for your support!
