Bok Choy - is nothing new, but worth noting this week because of the slug damage on the leaves. The warm and moist conditions of the high tunnels these days are exactly what the slugs love. We had a fun time soaking the heads in the in the sink and watching the slugs crawl out of the water. Sound disgusting, but insects need a place to live, too! Just give em another rinse and don’t mind the leaves.
Delicata - is a sweet and creamy squash with delicate skin, intended for eating.
56 trees got delivered yesterday and we’ll be planting all day today and tomorrow. If anyone wants t0 come help, from 9-noon tomorrow (Thursday), bring a shovel!
Our crew is the best!! Our Tuesday crew was here when the truck pulled up and everyone helped unload. It was awesome to see how excited everyone was about planting trees that will likely outlive us. Greg was the most excited - his grandparents farmed here when he was a kid (he’s in his early 70’s now, but you’d never know it) and he basically grew up here, and so planting something that extends into the future was really special for him.
